The Emmie Smillie Charity Foundation, is a cancer focused charity formed by the Smillie Family, as Trustees, in 2016. The Foundation was formally registered as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) at 15th March 2017.
The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) has registered the ESCF with Charity Number SC047233 and, for tax purposes, the ESCF is a registered Charitable Trust with HMRC under Charities reference number - ST02550.
The Charity was formally inaugurated at the Trustee Meeting of 15th April 2017, chaired by Andrew Smillie (Senior) with all Family members and Trustees present. The ESCF Secretary recorded the Meeting Minutes effecting the ESCF Charitable status with unanimous agreement by the Smillie Family Trustees to pro-actively undertake its commitment to fulfil its primary objective to support Cancer linked organisations, (within Glasgow & West of Scotland), which provide services aligned with the ongoing and ever-present life-changing challenges arising through Cancer related illness, particularly in young people.
As individuals, families, or simply close friends or acquaintances, we, or one of our loved ones will all have at some time in our lives been affected by this, as yet, uncontrollable disease which attacks the human body with indescribable suffering to the individuals affected but likewise creating a different pain and angst to families and loved ones. Therefore, it is most likely you will have, either as individuals or as groups, previously donated to or pro-actively supported in some way either some or most of the leading UK Cancer related Charities to help fund the leading Cancer Research Bodies. We would now like you to support the ESCF.
What the ESCF hopes to achieve is the personal motivation of individuals, Local Companies and Local Organisation, to join us collectively in this effort to try and deal with Cancer more effectively. Together we can assist in the fight against this totally indiscriminate disease which can attack anyone, anywhere, anytime.
Our aims and objectives are focused on assisting financially local Cancer related organisations, Hospices and Palliative Care Homes by raising funds through financial donations, sponsored events, organised social and sporting events and through the generous support from the People and Businesses of Glasgow.
ESCF is a non-profit making Registered Charity with all funds raised being 100% fully distributed across the desired Charities and Benefactors.
All Administration Costs will be met by the Smillie Family and all services provided by Trustees and Office Bearers is wholly voluntary with no-one benefitting financially.
ESCF will produce Accounts Annually to 31st March in accordance with OSCR requirements with all funds distributed within the Financial Year fully accounted for in the Notes to the Accounts.
